Cathode Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 May 2026

Cathode is a third-party YouTube viewer that runs entirely on your device. We do not operate any servers, accounts, or analytics services.

What we collect

Nothing. Cathode does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information about you. There are no accounts to create, no logins required, and no analytics or tracking SDKs in the app.

What stays on your device

The following data is stored locally on your device (and synced via your private iCloud account if you have iCloud enabled). None of it is ever sent to us:

  • Channels you have saved
  • Your watch later list
  • Your viewing history within the app
  • Playback progress for individual videos
  • App settings and preferences

You can clear any of this at any time by deleting the app or, where applicable, removing items from within the app.

Network requests

Cathode communicates directly with YouTube's public APIs and servers to fetch video metadata, channel information, and video streams that you choose to view. These requests are sent from your device to Google's servers and are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not receive, log, or proxy any of this traffic.

Thumbnails and channel images are loaded directly from YouTube's content delivery network and cached locally on your device.

Third-party services

Cathode does not embed any third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or attribution.
